Not a feeling. A real Person, doing real work in you.
The Holy Spirit isn't a mysterious energy Christians access when they need help. He's God, and the moment you're saved, He comes to live in you. That's the promise of Ephesians 1:13-14: sealed with the Holy Spirit, a down payment on everything still to come. He's not distant. He's as present as anyone who actually lives in your house.
He teaches you Scripture from the inside, not just information but understanding. He convicts you when you're wrong, in a way that feels different from guilt or shame; more like a friend telling the truth than an accusation. And He produces fruit in a life that stays connected to Him: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control. That list from Galatians 5:22-23 isn't a checklist to work through. It's what shows up naturally when someone actually stays close to God, the way fruit shows up on a healthy tree without the tree straining for it.
That closeness happens through Scripture, where He speaks, and prayer, where you speak back. Both, together, over time. Not a formula. A relationship.
